Why this guide: about 12,100 people a month search Google for “best hotels in paris” (US, DataForSEO Labs, September 2026). This is the answer we would give a client, written to be booked from.

- Design boutiquesHôtel Costes, Hôtel Providence, Le Pigalle, Hôtel des Grands Boulevards, Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers, The Hoxton, Hôtel Bourg Tibourg

The palaces
France's official 'Palace' distinction covers the top tier. Le Bristol on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is the most consistently loved (the garden, the rooftop pool, Epicure's three stars); Four Seasons George V for the flowers and the three restaurants; the Ritz on Place Vendôme for the legend and the Bar Hemingway; Cheval Blanc in the Samaritaine on the Seine for the newest and most spectacular views; Le Meurice for the Tuileries; La Réserve for the smallest and most private; Plaza Athénée on avenue Montaigne for the fashion crowd and the Dior; the Crillon on Place de la Concorde; the Shangri-La and the Peninsula in the 16th for the Eiffel views. Expect €1,200–€3,000 a night.
The boutiques
Hôtel Costes on rue Saint-Honoré for the scene; Hôtel Providence in the 10th for the velvet and the cocktails; Le Pigalle for the neighbourhood-as-hotel idea; Hôtel des Grands Boulevards for the courtyard restaurant; the Hoxton in the 2nd for the coworking-cool; Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers for the rooftop; Hôtel Bourg Tibourg in the Marais for Jacques Garcia's jewel box; Hôtel Henriette in the 13th for the price; Le Grand Mazarin in the Marais for the newest design darling; Hôtel Le Pavillon de la Reine on Place des Vosges for the location.
Mid-range and where to stay
Saint-Germain (6th) puts you between the Luxembourg Gardens, the Orsay and the Seine — Hôtel d'Aubusson, Hôtel Récamier, Relais Christine. The Marais (3rd/4th) for the museums, the food and the walk to the islands — Hôtel Caron de Beaumarchais, Hôtel Jules & Jim, Hôtel du Petit Moulin. The 7th for the tower and the Rodin — Hôtel Le Tourville, Hôtel de Varenne. The 9th and 10th (South Pigalle, Canal Saint-Martin) for the restaurant scene and 30% lower rates — Hôtel Amour, Hôtel Bienvenue, Hôtel Rochechouart. Avoid the immediate Gare du Nord blocks and the far 18th at night.
What to know
Rooms are small — a Parisian 'standard' is 15–20 m²; pay for the category up if you have two suitcases. Air conditioning is not universal in boutiques (ask, for July). Breakfast is often €25–€40 and better at the café on the corner. Fashion Weeks (late Sept/early Oct, late Feb/early March), the Paris Air Show in odd Junes and Christmas–New Year double the palaces. Booking it
Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is 45–60 minutes from the centre, Orly (ORY) 30–40; the engine's Paris page carries the hotels above, and a pre-booked chauffeur from CDG to a Marais hotel with no car access is the civilised arrival. See our Eiffel Tower and things to do in Paris guides.
Three things to get right
- Choose the arrondissement first: 6th or the Marais for a first visit.
- Pay for the room category up — Paris standard rooms are 15 m².
- The 9th and 10th are 30% cheaper and have the best restaurants.
