Why this guide: about 18,100 people a month search Google for “best beaches in the world” (US, DataForSEO Labs, September 2026). This is the answer we would give a client, written to be booked from.
The short answer
- CaribbeanGrace Bay (Turks and Caicos), Eagle Beach (Aruba), Seven Mile Beach (Grand Cayman and Negril), Shoal Bay (Anguilla)
- Indian Ocean and PacificAnse Source d'Argent (La Digue), Matira (Bora Bora), Lanikai (Oahu), Whitehaven (Whitsundays)
- Europe and elsewhereNavagio and Balos (Greece), Elafonissi (Crete), Praia do Sancho (Brazil), Railay (Thailand), Tulum (Mexico)
The Caribbean
Grace Bay on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos — 12 miles of powder sand and a reef that keeps the water calm and lucid; December–April. Eagle Beach, Aruba — wide, soft, the fofoti trees, and outside the hurricane belt so good all year. Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman (calm, resort-lined) and Seven Mile Beach at Negril, Jamaica (cliffs, sunsets, the Negril scene); winter for both. Shoal Bay East, Anguilla, for the quietest perfect sand; Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island, Bahamas, for the colour.
The Indian Ocean and the Pacific
Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue, Seychelles — the granite boulders, the shallow turquoise, the most photographed beach on earth; April–May and October–November. Matira on Bora Bora — the only public beach on the island, and the lagoon's colour is real; May–October. Lanikai on Oahu's windward side — the Mokulua islets, the sunrise, the calm; year-round. Whitehaven in Australia's Whitsundays — 98% silica sand, the Hill Inlet swirls at low tide; June–October outside stinger season. Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi reopened with limits; Railay in Krabi is the better base.
Europe
Navagio (Shipwreck Beach) on Zakynthos — the wreck, the cliffs, boat access only, and viewing now restricted from the water; June and September. Balos lagoon in western Crete — pink-white sand, a lagoon and the wild Gramvousa peninsula; Elafonissi's pink sand at the island's south-west; both in September when the sea is warmest. Cala Goloritzé in Sardinia for the boat-only cove; Praia da Marinha on the Algarve for the cliffs; Zlatni Rat on Brač in Croatia for the shape-shifting spit.
The Americas
Praia do Sancho on Fernando de Noronha, Brazil — a ladder down the cliff to the most consistently top-ranked beach in the world; August–December. Tulum's beach below the Maya ruins — the one that made the town — with the sargassum caveat from May to October; December–April. Baía do Sancho aside, Brazil's Ipanema and Rio's beach culture; Bondi in Sydney for the city beach; Cannon Beach in Oregon for the northwest's drama; Big Sur's Pfeiffer for the purple sand.

Three things to get right
- Go in the month listed — a great beach in the wrong season is a windy one.
- Grace Bay and Eagle Beach are the easiest 'best in the world' to reach from North America.
- Navagio is now viewed from the water; Balos and Elafonissi are the swims.
