Why this guide: about 4,400 people a month search Google for “luxury car service” (US, DataForSEO Labs, September 2026). This is the answer we would give a client, written to be booked from.
The short answer
- What it isA pre-booked, licensed chauffeur and vehicle — sedan, SUV or van — at a fixed rate, with flight tracking, meet-and-greet and a professional standard
- What it costsAirport transfers from US$85–$150 (Toronto Pearson to downtown from about CA$120; JFK to Manhattan $150–$250; Heathrow to central London £90–£150; CDG to Paris €90–€140); hourly hire $85–$150 (sedan) to $120–$200 (SUV), 2–3 hour minimum
- When it paysAirport runs with luggage, early or late flights, business days with multiple stops, weddings and events, and any city where the taxi queue or the surge is the alternative
What separates it from a rideshare
A commercial livery licence and commercial insurance (not a personal policy); a chauffeur who is vetted, trained and in a suit rather than a driver who accepted a ping; a vehicle inspected and less than three to five years old; a fixed, all-in price quoted before the ride (tolls, parking and airport fees included or itemised); flight tracking so the pickup adjusts to the actual landing time, with 30–60 minutes of free wait at airports; meet-and-greet inside the terminal with a name sign; help with luggage; and a company with a phone number that answers at 5 a.m. Rideshare Black tiers approximate the car but not the guarantee.
The vehicles
Executive sedan: Mercedes-Benz S-Class or E-Class, BMW 7 or 5 Series, Audi A8, Cadillac CT6/XTS, Lincoln Continental — two to three passengers, two to three bags. Luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes GLS, Chevrolet Suburban — up to six passengers, more luggage, the North American default. Executive van: Mercedes Sprinter or V-Class, 8–14 passengers, for groups and airport-to-resort. Stretch limousines exist for weddings and events (see our how-much-is-a-limo guide); for everything else, the sedan or SUV is the modern standard. Ask for the vehicle class, not the model — fleets rotate.
What it costs
Airport transfers are priced flat: Toronto Pearson to downtown from about CA$120 (sedan) to CA$160 (SUV); Billy Bishop less; JFK to Manhattan US$150–$250 depending on the neighbourhood and the vehicle; LAX to Beverly Hills $130–$200; Heathrow to central London £90–£150; Charles de Gaulle to Paris €90–€140; Dubai International to Downtown AED 200–350. Hourly hire (as-directed) runs US$85–$150 an hour for a sedan and $120–$200 for an SUV with a two- or three-hour minimum; day rates for 8–10 hours are discounted. Gratuity of 15–20% is customary in North America and often pre-added (check the invoice to avoid double-tipping); in Europe, 5–10% or rounding up. Peak surcharges apply on New Year's Eve and for late-night pickups at some operators.
How to book one that delivers
Book with the flight number so the pickup tracks the landing; give the terminal and the meeting point; confirm the vehicle class, the all-in price and the cancellation terms (24 hours is standard); provide a mobile number that works on arrival. For hourly hire, list the stops and the end time. For a corporate account, ask for a fixed rate card, a single invoice and a dedicated dispatcher. Read the reviews for the operator, not the aggregator — the aggregator's driver is a subcontractor. BlaakLine's network — the booker on this page — coordinates vetted local operators in Toronto, New York, London, Paris, Dubai and the rest of the 99 destinations under one booking, one price and one phone number: (877) 705-5757.
Booking it
Use the chauffeur booker on this page: choose transfer or hourly, enter the airport and the flight, pick the vehicle class, and the fixed quote appears before you commit. It pairs with the engine's flights and hotels — book the flight, then the car for both ends. See our airport limo service, corporate car service and black car service guides for the variants.
Three things to get right
- Fixed price, flight tracking and meet-and-greet are the three things you are paying for.
- Sedan for two people and two bags; SUV for four or more or airport luggage.
- Check whether gratuity is already on the invoice.
